'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Tranmere Is A Massive Game For Us

After witnessing a poor performance last Friday, Roberto Martinez says Saturday's game away at Tranmere is a massive game for his side.

The loss at home to Huddersfield means the Swans drop down to 6th in League One, and no longer have a game in hand over leaders Carlisle who are 3 points ahead of us.

We're continuing to show no signs whatsoever of improving our home form and performances, and a good away record isn't going to be enough to get us promotion this season.

Leeds, with a 15-point deduction, are now above us, and were a team Martinez said we must finish above.

In 7 games at the Liberty, we've won only 2 of them, scoring just 6 goals and conceding 6. A record that could be compared with teams currently in the relegation zone.

It's absolutely vital then that we get a moral and confidence boosting win on Saturday. After that we're back at home against Hartlepool.

Martinez surely has to consider making 1 or 2 changes to his side this weekend. Scotland didn't perform nowhere near the standards required and I think Tate deserved to keep his place at the back, as Lawrence is vulnerable to the costly mistake, though I suppose you could argue that Tate is as well.

Guillem Bauza is yet to feature in the League and has been on fine scoring form lately, scoring 4 in the last 3 cup games. Both him and Feeney I think would be better options this Saturday to partner Darryl Duffy.

Roberto Martinez shared his views on the upcoming game and told the Evening Post:

''Tranmere is a difficult place to go,''

''They always raise their game against top sides. They can be both physical and very effective on set-pieces so we need to match them in that aspect while they can also play off a target man.

''It is a massive, massive game for us.''

''Against Huddersfield our performance was below par in areas and we lacked a bit of talent at crucial times which prevented us from scoring goals,''

''It is something I am looking into. But the players are working really hard on a daily basis. They all want to play all the time, which is not possible.

''Together as a squad we are working towards getting better results and position in the table. No matter who is playing, what is important that everyone realises that they have a huge role to play for Swansea City and they need to be ready when they are required.

''We have a very good balance in the squad and we have players fighting it out for every position and that is what you need as a manager.''
