Craney To Sign For Peterborough?

Ian Craney is on the Verge of signing for League Two Peterborough United according to the latest reports.

by GThomas
"He's definitely better off at another club."
In a shock move Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez had recalled the former England semi pro international from his loan spell at Accrington Stanley on Thursday. The deal for Craney's departure from Swansea City could not be brokered and the midfielder returned to Stanley.

The Peterborough Evening telegraph reported on Thursday afternoon that an undisclosed League One player was subject to a bid from the London Road stadium outfit. Posh manager Darren Ferguson has remained tight lipped in recent days regarding the failed transfer of Ian Craney.

The former Wrexham striker in his 2nd season as a manager would only state that the midfielder in question was 'fairly experienced.'

The deal was very close to completion however a disagreement over personal terms scuppered the deal.

Craney has come under fire for his lacklustre performances from Swansea City fans since his arrival at the Liberty Stadium in 2006.

Signed permanently in the January transfer window for an estimated £150,000 the midfielder has made 30 appearances for Swansea City ; two of which came in the League cups this season.

Craney has had a successful loan spell at his former Club scoring two goals; his last against Barnet on the weekend.

Talks to secure a deal are ongoing.

With the number of mid-field players his chance of playing in the first team are pretty slim. This is why he is on a loan spell at Accrington Stanley. It gives us and other clubs the opportunity to see him play and assess his performance. Believe the January window will see him depart.
