Robinson Ready For Contract Talks

Robinson Ready For Contract Talks

Swansea City received a boost today with the news that Andy Robinson is ready to start discussing a new contract at the club.

Earlier in the week the midfielder said he wanted to put contract talks on hold because the last time he discussed new terms it affected his game.

That last time was last season when it took a while for him to sign a new deal with us. A number of Championship clubs were showing an interest but he finally put pen to paper on a 1 year extension.

Andy Robinson explained the situation to the Evening Post:

'The only reason I haven't wanted to talk is because I haven't wanted to affect my form on the pitch.

'I know from experience that contract talks can affect me. One day one thing is getting said, the next day another thing is getting said. You're close and then you're not.

'It's confusing sometimes - you know the club want you, but nothing's getting sorted out.

'That's what happened last year.'

'I've been loyal to this club in all the time I've been here and I will be in the future,'

'I've always said I want to play Championship football at Swansea and I think we're going in the right direction.'

Maybe he remembered fans reaction to what happened before the start of the 2006/2007 season when he delayed signing.
