Roberto Martinez for the first time in his short managerial career has been nominated for the League One manager of the month award.
The nomination comes in the wake of a 5 back to back wins stretching back to Tuesday 2nd October against Swindon Town.
Swansea City midfielder Leon Britton has heaped nothing but praise on his former team mate. The midfielder has commented how well the Spaniard has made the switch from being a player into management.
Since he was appointed as manager on the 24th February he has guided the club within a whisker of a play off spot and has restored some degree of confidence in the club.
Winning the October manager of the month award would be the icing on the cake for the tactician.
Britton
told the Evening Post:
| 'I think everyone has seen since the gaffer came in that he is a quality manager.' All the lads are enjoying playing for him and you can see that with the results we're getting on the pitch.' At first it was strange for the lads who were here when he was a player to see him take over as manager. But as time has gone by both sides have got used to it. He has settled into the job really well and the players have responded.' |
| '"Any award or recognition is not just nice for me, but for the players, staff and for the whole of Swansea City.' We don`t get many compliments and, of course, it would be nice, but it`s something that doesn`t really take much up of my attention.' If I do win it then it would be welcomed, but it would mean nothing unless we kick on from our good start and earn promotion.' It`s important we don`t rest on our laurels and pat ourselves on the back for a good three months.' You don`t win anything in October, and I don`t need to tell the players that also..' |
