Tudur Jones Back In Frame
Long term Injury stricken midfielder Owain Tudur Jones is set to come back into the frame better than ever according to Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez.
The U-21 Welsh international has featured in reserves over the last few weeks to gain valuable match time to build up his fitness. Tudur-Jones has managed to secure 90 minutes in the reserves 2-1 win against Forest Green Rovers.
The Midfielder is also set to get more match practice under his belt when Swansea City face Neath Athletic in a friendly at Landarcy Park on the 8th November.
Martinez has hinted that he has tried to persuade Jones to switch positions from Centre midfield to Centre half citing his leadership qualities as a reason behind his rationale.
Competition for places has been fierce at the club adaptability could prove vital for the former Bangor City player.
Martinez has also expressed his delight and excitement at the midfielder's return to the fray.
told the Evening Post:
|'I have seen a huge improvement in Owain and, if everyone was excited about the way he was before the injury, I can guarantee them he has come back a lot stronger.'|
He is more mature and tactically he is a different player - I know he will impress our fans again when he gets back in.'
With the characteristics he has got, Owain can play in many positions,' added the Swansea boss.
He could easily play centre-half because he is big, he is strong, he can read the game well, he is fantastic in one-v-one situations and he is a leader.'
But Owain prefers to play in central midfield and that's the way I'll see him until he changes his mind.'
This news is very much welcome as Martinez has a near fully fit side to call upon.
