Billericay Looking To Down Swans

Billericay Town manager Matt Jones has signalled the Isthmian League side's desire to produce a giant killing in the 1st round proper of the FA Cup.

The former Dagenham and Redbridge player has also expressed his delight at securing the first League opposition to play against the Blues.

The club have hopes that the tie will be played at Ricay's 3500 capacity The New Lodge ground. This has yet to be confirmed as the club will have to satisfy Essex Police of the viability of their match day plans.

Ricay Manager Matt Jones
Spoke to the Billericay Weekly News:

'It's a great reward for the players who've worked so hard over the past couple of years and suffered a massive disappointment at the end of last season when we lost the Ryman Premier play-off.'

We were beaten at Invicta a few weeks ago in a league match, but learned lessons from that day and deservedly won this time.'

We couldn't have asked for a better draw than Swansea at home, but I'm not just looking at it as a big occasion.

As far as I'm concerned it's a winnable tie. They won't fancy coming to us and we'll be doing our homework and looking to pull off a giant-killing.'

The FA cup has in its long history provided the perfect stage for Non League teams to defy their status and challenge League opposition. This clash has certainly got all the hallmarks of a great cup game.

We may struggle to play our passing game at their ground as i doubt that they have a very good pitch. It may not be completely level unlike the Liberty and i think it will be a closer game than people may expect. I think we will win though as our fitness and overall skill will beat them in the end.
