Scotland Hopes For More Goals

Striker Jason Scotland was firmly back in scoring ways on the weekend with a first half goal against Yeovil Town.

The former St Johnston striker had been struggling for goals ; his last came against Cheltenham Town on September 18th.

The Trinidad and Tobago international put Swansea ahead at Huish Park after an injection of pace from midfeilder Paul Anderson created a space on the periphery of the Yeovil Box.

On loan Liverpool Winger dully offloaded the ball on the edge of the box which Scotland riffled in to the bottom right hand corner.

Morvant born Striker has been frustrated in recent weeks but has contributed to the clubs winning streak that spans to 5 games .

Despite his lack of the goals the Striker hopes the goal against Yeovil will provided the catalyst to spur him on to more goals.

Scotland toldThe Evening Post:

' I'm delighted to get back on the scoresheet again.'

I haven't scored for a few games and it's nice to get that feeling again.'

It's not easy because you come up against some good defenders in this league and while some days you can be better than them, on other days they will do a job.'

Thankfully, I managed to get a goal this time and, hopefully, that will be the start of a good run of form for me.'

Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez praised Scotland for his goal and has tipped the striker to spur the club on in the coming weeks.

The tactician toldThe Evening Post:

''It was a great finish by Jason and he deserved it because of the work he has done while things haven't been going his way.'

He has gone a little while without a goal, but I always look at the goals which decide games, the important ones, and Jason is always there.'

That's the important thing with a goalscorer and the way he worked on Saturday combined with his consistency will also bring goals.'

I'm sure we'll see a lot more from him in the next few weeks.'

The Striker will have an opportunity to add to his goals tally against League one struggler's Gillingham on friday night.
