Hartlepool Match Postponed

Hartlepool Match Postponed

Today's match at the Liberty Stadium has been mutually postponed due to the tragic death of Hartlepool United's 20 Year old midfeilder Michael Maidens.

Maidens was travelling a Vaxhall Corsa on the A174 in North Yorkshire when the accident occurred. Yorkshire Police have confirmed that the Corsa which Maidens had been travelling in lost control and hit a metal post causing fatal injuries to the passenger.

Both clubs were in mutual agreement that the fixture could not be played out of respect to the Hartlepool Players , Staff and The Family of Mr Maidens.

Swansea City have released a statement regarding the tragic news from Yorkshire.

Swansea's Official Statement read:

"Our thoughts and best wishes are with Michael's family, the club and the players at this very sad time.

It was a mutual decision by the clubs to call the game off"


Everyone at Vital Swansea would like to offer their condolences to his family at a very sad and difficult time.

Sad sad story,. seems to be the thing this season though, football has lost a few players this year!
