Martinez: Proud Of His Players

Roberto Martinez said he was proud of his players after another impressive away victory yesterday.

Goals from Ferrie Bodde, Dennis Lawrence and Warren Feeney (2) gave his side a 4-1 victory at Bournemouth yesterday at Dean Court.

That win and the increased goal difference puts us top of League One but the Spaniard isn't getting carried away this early in the season.

Roberto Martinez told BBC SPORT:

'I think Bournemouth went for the game and in that respect they put us under much pressure,'

'I thought we weathered the storm well. With the way the boys reacted, I'm very proud of them.'

'They put four forwards in their line-up and they were trying to be quite direct so we knew as soon as we regained possession we were going to have one-on-one situations at the back.

'For our standards, in the first half, we didn't use that enough and that's why the scoreline wasn't a bit bigger.'

'I think it will be a big, big mistake (to get carried away),'

'Being top of the table is something for the fans to celebrate.

'But I don't think the table is realistic at the moment and we need to keep working hard, keep improving and look forward to the next challenge.'

Can the Swans maintain their current form and finally make it to the Championship at the third attempt?

He has his head screwed on properly. Let the fans celebrate now and the players at the end of the season when we know what we have achieved. The players need to keep working hard in order to retain our league status. At the moment we are only top because we are scoring. We need to get more wins under our belt so that we are points clear rather than goals clear.
