Booing Isn't Helping Anyone

Defenders Garry Monk and Marcos Painter have both commented on the negative effect the boo-boys are having on the team.

In the last few home games, Swansea City have struggled to score goals and win games and this has been reflected in some sections of the crowd.

"He doesn't deserve abuse I thought he played very well."
Marcos Painter was given a torrid time by one particular fan in the east Stand during the second half and this put him off his game.

To say this was unfair would be an understatement. Painter has filled that left back place extremely well since he joined and was no worse than anyone else on Saturday, it was a bad day for mostly everyone.

Those fans who feel the need to boo at half and full time might as well not turn up. They're a hindrance to the team and a lack of encouragement from the Swans faithful isn't helping the team get results on the pitch.

Captain Garry Monk told how the team are feeling the pressure at home:

''We can sense the pressure from the crowd,''

''They were booing early on and, although it doesn't bother me, some of the younger players can be affected by it.

''I know there was some bloke going on at Marcos Painter all through the second half. I think that affected him a little bit and there's no need for it, especially from your own fans.

''But the boos are part and parcel of football. Fans are entitled to their opinions and we have to be professional and get on with it.''

Marcos Painter also explained the struggle he had in the second half with one particular fan, who hurled abuse at the youngster throughout:

''I had an incident with one of the fans and I let it affect me. As soon as he started having a go in the second half my game went a little bit. My passes were going astray and that meant things were getting to me even more.

''The fan must have something personal against me because I remember him having a few goes before.

''I'm sure he just wants the team to win the same as I do, but he obviously thinks that I don't want to win games which is bizarre because we all want to win.

''I went to pick the ball up to take a throw in and he started venting his frustrations at me. He started dishing out some abuse and I gave him a bit back which I shouldn't have done, but I was getting frustrated too.

''I'm a young player and I've never really experienced anything like that before. It has really annoyed me to be honest. It doesn't help me and I know other players are like me and it doesn't help them either.

''This is a part of a learning curve for me and I'm just going to have learn to blank it out.''

Actions like this are nothing less than a disgrace and if you're looking for a viable reason why someone should be thrown out by a steward, there it is.

It's not right booing or attacking the players, but after that shocking performance, the crowd has a right to let them know how they feel, because its obvious RM isn't,
