Orlandi Enjoying His Time At Swansea

Versatile Swansea City player Andrea Orlandi is enjoying his time in South Wales and is aiming to get into the first team as soon as possible.

The former Alaves player made his debut last Saturday when he came on as a sub at Elland Road against Leeds.

Orlandi has been a long-term target for Roberto Martinez and came down for a look around at the end of last season. His move to the Swans would have happened earlier but he had his contract with Alaves to sort out first.

After his debut in front of nearly 30,000 fans last week, Orlandi is now aiming to get a firt team place as soon as possible.

He told the Western Mail:

"It was an amazing feeling to get my debut at Leeds,"

"It`s a unique feeling that you can only get in those sort of situations. There were a lot of emotions and I was really happy to get 30 minutes out there.

"It was a bit of a shame because we conceded just after I came on and it was hard to come on and play at 2-0 down. I tried to do my best but it was difficult to help pick up the team."

"I have had three weeks here and it gets better every day," he said. "But I need a bit more time before I am at my best.

"What I`m looking for is to start in the first XI as soon as possible. Not just for cup games but in the league as well."

"I have been really surprised by how high the level of football is in League One,"

"At home I just knew it was the third level in England. But now, having seen the teams we play against, I realise it`s a really good standard.

"The supporters are amazing as well. It`s more than the first division in Spain."

With wingers Andy Robinson and Leon Britton out injured, Orlandi is contention for a place tomorrow when Brighton visit the Liberty Stadium.

He can play in any position down the left hand side but he's more likely to compete with Tom Butler for a place on the left wing tomorrow.

Judging from video clips of his performances for Alaves, he is a typical winger, with good pace and excellent crossing ability.

He looks to have huge potential and will certainly be capable of a run in the first team when he's fully settled in here.
