'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Reaction: Cheltenham vs Swansea City

Roberto Martinez said he was disappointed with his side's performance in the first 20 minutes of last night's game at Whaddon Road.

It was a game of two halves for the Swans as we managed to turn things around in the second half to score 2 goals to come back again and win.

The Robins took an early lead thanks to more defending from the Swans. Paul Connor's flick-on wasn't dealt with as Vincent got on the end of it to strike from 12 yards.

Martinez said he was pleased however with his side's second half performance:

''We were all disappointed with the first 20 minutes, which was how long it took us to get to grips with the game,'' Martinez said.

''We knew what to expect from Cheltenham. We knew they would be direct and there would be an aerial threat, but we didn't cope to begin with and that was disappointing for all of us.

''The pleasing thing was that the players showed the right attitude and determination to put things right in the second half.

''We showed the right character in the second half, and the game was a clear example that talent alone will not win you games. If you're not ready for the challenge, football will hurt you,''

Despite doing well in coming back, the Swans really can't afford to continue in giving away early goals. We travel to Leeds on Saturday and we'll have to be at our best from kick-off if we are to gain anything at Elland Road.

John Ward meanwhile says his side should have got something out of the game:

'I don't think Swansea could have grumbled if we had taken a point from this game,'

'We did extremely well in the opening 45 minutes. We frustrated them and got the early goal which gave us a lift.

'Swansea have gone into the top six with this win and that shows their pedigree and we're not a million miles away from these teams.'

Ward added: 'We're holding our own in this league at the moment and hopefully we can keep doing that.'
