Painter Eyes Carlisle Return

Marcos Painter has told Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez that he is fit and ready for selection for tomorrow's home match against Carlisle.

The full-back returned to training on Monday after spending the last 3 weeks out with a foot injury.

After completing a full weeks training, Painter says he is fit and ready to play tomorrow night.

He said:

'I've trained all week,''

'While it's still a bit sore after the sessions, it's a lot better.

'The manager has asked me if I'll be available for selection, and I've told him yes. I'm just desperate to get back out there playing again, especially with three games in the next eight days.''

Martinez says it will depend on how Painter does in the final training session on whether or not he'll start the game.

'The recent break we've had has given Marcos the license to return. He's made himself available, but we'll just have to wait and see how he comes through the final training session before making the final decision.''

If Painter does return it will certainly be a welcome boost ahead of a tough game at the Liberty.

Kevin Austin has struggled at left back in his place, conceding possession far too often, while Painter is solid and dependable and has better quality going forward.
