One might be forgiven for forgetting Irish midfielder Thomas Butler was still at the club after so many new arrivals.
The acquisition of Paul Anderson and the rejuvenated Andy Robinson have pushed Butler further down the pecking order at the club.
So Much so Butler looked set to leave Swansea City for pastures new this summer; with a move to League Two side Barnet rumoured as his possible destination.
Butler has been told in recent weeks that he is very much part of Roberto Martinez's plans at the club.Martinez was also quick to praise his midfielders efforts in the Johnston's Paint Trophy 1st round at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night
Martinez
Told The South Wales Evening Post:
| ''We know he has got Premiership ability. All he needs to do now is make sure that he keeps fit and available, because when he is on top of his game he is one of those players who is exciting to watch.' |
| ''People talk, not the manager but maybe higher up the club, and there were rumours that I might be leaving.' So I asked the manager. I said to him that if he didn't want me he should come and tell me, because I'm not the type of player to sit around when I'm not needed. "I told him I wasn't complaining - Andy Robinson and Leon Britton have been fantastic over the last couple of years, and there are four or five wingers here now going for two places." "But I'm in a difficult position. I'm 26, I need to be playing and I need to know how many games I could possibly play." "I need you in the squad'. He said he believes in me and as a player all you want is that honesty. |
