'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Martinez On Cheltenham Postponement

Roberto Martinez has apologised to Swansea fans after postponing Friday night's away game at Cheltenham.

Some fans were angered at the decision after the club decided to move the fixture to Tuesday 18th September.

Roberto Martinez said:

'I can only apologise if some of our supporters are disappointed, but this decision was not taken lightly.'

'We put a lot of thought into it and if the fans sit and think about it for a few minutes they will be happy with the decision because playing the game would be negative for our club.'

'I don't really like to call off games, but we had to do it for the benefit of Swansea City.'

'There are five or six reasons behind it.'

'It's best not to go into them because that would be disrespectful to the other team.'

'Some the people will be able to read for themselves, others they won't.'

'I'm sure people are disappointed, but it's not something we've done for the sake of it.'

My views still stay the same from the article linked above. I can;t really understand how this benefits us, especially as now we will play 3 League games within a week.

Can you understand how we'll benefit from Martinez's decision?

I'm not any smarter about it than before!

I reckon it could be cos big john is about to sign on loan and delaying the game will give him time to settle before playing first team.

Maybe its a new signing coming in hence the delay would make sense.
