'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Reaction: Swansea 0 Reading 1

Reading players and manager gave compliments to the Swans last night after coming through a difficult Carling Cup game at the Liberty Stadium.

The Premiership side were under the cosh for the opening 35 minutes as Swansea dominated throughout.

The Swans however were unable to convert their chances and Reading's extra quality in the final third paid off as Lita grabbed a 105th minute winner.

Leroy Lita told Reading's Official Site:

'It was a tough game, Swansea are a good team.

'They pass the ball very well and it is a nice play to play football, it was a good game to play in.'

(On his goal) 'It was great work by Dave. Playing out of position, he did really well to create the chance for me and I managed to stick it away.

Lita also said that the referee apologised to Sam Sodje for making a mistake in sending him off, he added:

'Sodje made a great tackle to win the ball, and the ref said sorry to him at the half time of the extra time.

'The ref made a mistake, but we just got on with the job and managed to get the win.

Reading manager Steve Coppell was pleased with his side's desire to come through a 'stiff test'. He said:

'I thought we came through one hell of a stiff test tonight,'

'We had to play half an hour with ten men and then the extra half hour. And in the end, it was just that extra little bit of sharpness in the box that worked our way.

'We were playing against a very good side. I want to compliment Swansea. I've watched a couple of their games and they play effective football which is pleasing on the eye. I knew this was going to be a difficult test.

'But all in all, I felt we had the better chances. We were beaten comprehensively on Saturday so it was nice to get a win tonight.'
