Reaction: Walsall vs Swansea City
Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez praised his side's character to come back and win after conceding an early goal.
For the second time on their travels, the Swans conceded another early goal as Butler slid in to score at the far post after just 7 minutes.
Martinez said:
| 'The performance was excellent and it showed the character of the side to come back from an early goal like that. 'The overall level of performance was what we wanted. I believe we were more dominant in our matches against Nottingham Forest and Oldham, yet only managed one point. 'Yes Walsall had chances, but with the make-up of our team and the way we approached the game wanting to win, that sometimes means leaving spaces. But we had to play to our strengths and I thought we defended well when we had to.'' |
He said:
| 'I am not worried at all. We have played against a team that for sure will be in the top two spots; there is absolutely no doubt in my mind about that. 'Our defending was like the film Calamity Jane - there's no way you can defend like that at any level and expect to get anything out of the game. 'Words defy me. But we have hit the bar twice and the post and had two or three really good opportunities to score. 'And even when down to 10 men we have created a number of chances, so I am not worried at all.' |
