With So many new faces in the Swansea City dressing room team bonding was always going to be a problem. Encompassed with the new international players from Spain and the Netherlands gelling this new look Swansea Squad could have faced difficulties.
In spite of this Swansea City Captain Garry Monk has firmly highlighted that the bonding in the pre season phase has gone exceptionally well and this groundwork is reaping the rewards on the pitch.
This level of team spirit has seen Roberto Martinez find a free flowing brand of football that has delighted the Swansea faithful. Albeit after two very disappointing results ; a loss at Oldham and a goalless draw vs Nottingham Forest have not glossed over the fine performances from the Squad.
The level of awareness between the players has been exellent with some superb link up play and understanding between the players.
Swansea City Captain Garry Monk
Spoke To The South Wales Evening Post:
| 'One thing I realised when I joined this club was the effort made by everyone to settle you in,'' he said. We had breakfast together and outside of everything we were always ringing each other up. When the gaffer was a player he was massive on team bonding.' We were a close bunch anyway but the gaffer has got us doing all the little things together like having breakfast and lunch.' That may seem a little insignificant but it makes a massive difference on Saturday' |
A win is a win and when you play away from home you usually have to play different tactics.' Their goal was our own fault and at times we put ourselves under pressure by giving the ball away cheaply.' But we got an early goal back and then a second, while the third one was crucial.' I am feeling pretty good. I said all along I would take a few games to get involved. It was my first away game in over a year, but I really enjoyed it.' |
