Just as Roberto Martinez has previously stated, we'd be stupid to under-estimate Walsall this weekend.
Swansea City fans seem confident of us getting our first win of the season tomorrow. 93% of our readers have voted that we'll win tomorrow, and while I think we can, I don't think it'll be that easy.
Not as easy as our Carling Cup win against the Saddlers for certain. Our second string side beat them 2-0 while the visitors made just 4 changes to their starting line-up that night.
This weekend, Walsall will have the home advantage plus the fact that we're totally unpredictable away from home.
We may well be the side creating the most chances in League One, but we've scored just 1 goal from a total of 43 shots! In comparison, Walsall have also scored 1 goal, and have had 21 shots at goal.
Roberto Martinez told the Evening Post:
| 'If anyone is expecting an easy game they are making a big mistake,' 'When we beat them at home they were coming off the back of a difficult game at the weekend. 'They didn't have much time to recover and they probably found it difficult to perform on the pitch at the Liberty. They needed 50 or 60 minutes to cope with the tempo we imposed on the game. 'But it will be completely different at the Bescot. 'They have experienced players who know how to put you under pressure, how to score goals and how to compete at home in particular. 'Their home record last season (they lost just three league games) was amazing and since then they have added a number of experienced players who have improved them. 'If they are lucky with injuries, I think Walsall will have a good season and I know they will be keen to get back at us after we beat them last week. It's going to be a very difficult game.' |
