Swansea Look At Barca's Fernandez

Roberto Martinez looks set to dip into the transfer market by trialling Spanish utility defender Josue Fernandez with a view to a permanant move should the Barcelona player settle in Wales.

In recent weeks Martinez has faced strong criticism from fans over his lack of activity in the transfer market.

Fernandez has not secured a first team game at the Nou Camp but is a regular in the reserve team set up.

Roberto Martinez
Spoke to The Evening Post

''Josue has great quality and pedigree and he has an amazing future in front of him,'

'The fact that he is from Barcelona tells you that he has had a great education, too, and I'm looking forward to seeing how he adapts.'

He is the right character, I can guarantee you that, and when you meet him you can see he is desperate for success.

"He's a left-back with an attacking mind, although he is strong enough to cover centre-back as well.

He understands how difficult it is to break through at a club like Barcelona, and it tells you a lot when he is ready to go abroad to chase his dream.''

"If he does sign Painter can play in the centre if we're low on numbers."
Martinez has already brought in defensive cover with the signing of Angel Rangel from Terrassa FC. Fernandez is a natural Left back but can is a versatile defender and can move into the centre of defense. This was an area Martinez had a need for strengthening.

Fernandez is expected to play in the Reserve Team tonight vs Bristol City at the Remax Stadium in Port Talbot ; Kick off at 7.00PM.

What do you think of the possible Signing of Fernandez?

Hopefully he's the type of player we need at the back as we definitely need a pacey CB who's strong.
