Swansea City: It's Early Days Yet!

Swansea City: It's Early Days Yet!

After 180 minutes of football played so far this season, some fans, although very few are already showing concerns and pessimistic views about the squad and our chances this season.

We sit disappointingly in 19th place with only 1 goal scored and 1 point on the board, but so far the signs are very encouraging that we'll be successful at last this year.

We played 2 teams who I'm sure will be aiming for at least a top 6 finish and we've been the better side on both occasions. Despite Oldham starting off well, we dominated the second half but like on Saturday, our finishing let us down as our opposition were severely let off.

'I am sure the goals will flow soon enough.'.
The stats say we're the most attacking side in the league so far, creating the most chances and hitting the woodwork more than anyone else. The quick passing game we played against Nottingham Forest was the best football I've seen down the Liberty Stadium in quite some time and it's only a matter of time I think before we start enjoying an excellent run of form.

Of course football is all about getting good results on the pitch and despite us not getting them so far, it's only been two games, we're creating lots of chances for 2 excellent strikers and they'll soon come I'm sure.

Walsall this weekend should be a straight forward win for the Swans if we want to gain promotion this season. No disrespect to them but I think they'll continue to struggle this year and I'm predicting a comfortable 2-0 win. Our second string side beat them by that scoreline in the cup last weekend and we shouldn't have many problems on Saturday.

Having said that, anything can happen away from home with the Swans and I'm not implying for a second that it's a guaranteed win.

'Doncaster will again be a very difficult oppistion but should pick up a win'.
Next up after that is a tough home game against Doncaster, another side who are looking to go up this season. Depending on whether they actually come for a win, unlike Forest, it's a difficult game to predict, but I think a draw is our best bet if they come purely to defend.

Martinez's side also have two cup games coming up. Reading visit next Tuesday for the Carling Cup second round and Millwall also visit for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on September 4th. The Swans boss I know will want to win these games but the League has to be our priority this year. I think an upset against the Premiership side is possible, especially if they play mostly Reserve team players.

So, the signs certainly look encouraging so early in the season despite the lack of decent results so far and it's a matter of when not if the wins and goals will come.

How confident are you of our promotion chances this season? Are you encouraged by what you've seen so far?

cant disagree with that really. we're creating the most chances, just a case of finishing them off in the back of the net.
