Despite not scoring and picking up 3 points, Roberto Martinez was encouraged by his side's performance against one of the favourites to gain promotion this season.
The Swans dominated the majority of the game but their finishing let them down in the final third.
Martinez told the Official Site:
|'Even though the result wasn't what we wanted, if we can keep repeating our performances against Oldham and Forest then we'll be okay,'' |
'I thought we dominated the game; with 16 attempts on goal, seven of which were on target. We restricted Forest had just two attempts on goal, which says a lot about our performance and defensive display.
'I was pleased with the way we moved ball and we opened up a very strong Forest team on numerous occasions.
'So I've got no worries about the number of chances we are creating, I'm just disappointed we couldn't get that first goal. I wish I could have bought one!
'The boys are really disappointed because we didn't win the game, but you have to ignore the league table at this stage of the season - even if we were top of the league.
'We've just got to maintain our level of performance and the rest will come.''
'The support was fantastic. They were very understanding and supportive. But Swans fans are like that if they can see the boys are giving it everything. I think they could see the boys' determination, effort and attitude to win the game. They respect that.''
|'This is definitely one of the games that excited me when I joined,' |
'They are one of the top clubs in the league and, in the history of English football, they are a massive club.'
Nottingham Forest are going for the title and they have a good squad, so naturally I`m going to have a busy day.'
