'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Dorus Ready For Forest Clash

After the dissapointing 2-1 loss at Oldham last week Swansea City's Dutch Keeper has stated his intention of keeping a clean sheet against Nottingham Forest today.

De Vries's League debute got off to a horrendous start when he saw a Michael Ricketts penalty hit the back of the net.

The former Dunfermline Stop stopper did keep a clean sheet against Walsall in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night.

Dorus De Vries
Spoke to the Western Mail:

"This is definitely one of the games that excited me when I joined," he said. "They are one of the top clubs in the league and, in the history of English football, they are a massive club.'

Nottingham Forest are going for the title and they have a good squad, so naturally I`m going to have a busy day.'

The 27 year old has established himself as Swansea's No 1 Keeper with the departure of Willy Gueret to MK Dons. His place has been secured in Martinez's starting 11 this does come with no real competition to his place.

Callum Hawthorne who has been drafted in by Martinez as Swansea's no 2 keeper is vastly inexperienced and has no League experience. Encompassed with the failure to secure a loan deal with Liverpool for David Martin Martinez options are limited. The Club have been in negotiations with Liverpool Manager Rafa Benitez over taking Bulgarian keeper Nikolay Mihaylov on loan but the deal has stalled.

The has been due to Work Permit problems and leaves Martinez in a rather compromising position should De Vries get injured.

Not that De Vries has been phased by the pressure and he has been quick to state he feels that he has nothing to prove.

Dorus De Vries
Spoke to the Western Mail:

'As soon as I signed and started training, I wanted to become number one. That was my only target and I achieved it.'

Now I have to work hard and play well to keep the jersey and establish myself at Swansea.

I`ve got nothing to prove. I know my own abilities and I`m confident about them so I just want to play games."'

De Vries has more than filled the gloves of the departed Frenchman Willy Gueret in pre season lets hope he fulfils his dream of keeping a clean sheet today.
