Sheridan: 'We Were Lucky'

Oldham Athletic boss John Sheridan said his side were lucky to take all 3 points yesterday.

He was sent to the stands after protesting when Kilkenny was brought down by a two-man tackle.

His side took an early lead when Tate pushed Craig Davies to the floor as Ricketts netted from the spot.

The Swans deservedly got back into the game early in the second half with a great individual debut goal from Jason Scotland.

We started to dominate in the second but we were punished for not converting our chances as Davies popped up with a last minute winner.

John Sheridan said his side were lucky and praised Martinez's side, he said:

'We were lucky. Swanea passed the ball well and looked a very good side.

'We didn't play well but we won the game against a better team. I have a lot of new faces in my side and it is going to take time to get used to each other.

'The main thing was to get three points and be off to a good start.

'It's not a bad habit playing poorly and winning games but I know we can improve.'

It was a dissapointing way to lose a match, being the better side and conceding silly goals.

However the performance looked very promising and hopefully we'll get our first win next Saturday at home to Nottingham Forest.

They admit they were lucky and we were the better side and based on last year Oldham were one of the better sides in our division. I still think we will do v well this season.

Sounded like it was a great performance by us, we just couldn't finish off our chances. Think we'll beat Forest on Sat.

We played well in the second half but we didn't get going in the first! We need to take our chances and sort out our CB problem!
