Match Reaction: Oldham vs Swansea

Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez said he could take many positives out of yesterday's game, despite losing 2-1 away at Oldham.

After a poor first half, the Swans dominated most of the second but we failed to convert our chances late to get something from the game.

We were punished for this as Craig Davies scored Oldham's winner in the last minute.

Roberto Martinez seemed pleased with his strike partnership and his side's performance overall. He told BBC Sport:

'There were many positives. We stamped authority and controlled the tempo of the game, but they took their chances.

'The squad has gelled quickly and if we play like that the points will follow.'

'Jason Scotland's finish was fantastic and he held the ball really well with Darryl Duffy, their partnership up front was brilliant at times,'

Jason Scotland scored on his league debut and he added:

'I'm very pleased to get off the mark on my debut, that's a positive,'

'But it's disappointing that we didn't win the game, everyone's a bit down as we felt we deserved at least a point.

'But we welcome Walsall in the Carling Cup on Tuesday then there's a big game with Nottingham Forest at the Liberty Stadium next Saturday, so we have to pick ourselves up quickly.'

Despite defeat on the opening day things look promising this year. Many Oldham fans praised our performance and thought we should have got something from the game.

Next up is Walsall on Tuesday night in the Carling Cup before we face another side hoping for promotion this year - Nottingham Forest. They drew 0-0 at home to Bournemouth yesterday.

Bit disappointed but plenty of positives to build on.
