Food Poisoning Strikes Duffy

Darryl Duffy could have not had a worse start to the pre season tour of The Netherlands. The Scottish born striker has spoken out at the bout of food poisoning that saw him lose 5kg in weight during the clubs tour.

Duffy who had finally secured his permanant move to the Liberty Stadium had been in fine form after scoring 3 goals in 3 games.

The former Scotland U-21 international has been working closely with Swansea City Physio Richie Evans to compensate for any delay in building towards match fitness.

Duffy Told The Western Mail:

' '"As well as feeling really weak and ill, it was really frustrating as I needed to catch up with my fitness. I was behind anyway because of the transfer,"

I came back from holiday with jetlag and once I got over that I picked up a stomach bug from eating some paella. It really knocked me for six and took me a while to get over it.

In three days I lost five kilograms, so I`ve still got a while to go before I`m where I want to be. It has set me back quite a few days."''

Despite this setback Duffy has managed to score twice against Schipluiden and Sparta Rotterdam.

Duffy has an exellent goals to games ratio with the club and has only failed to score in 1 game for the club.

Duffy will be pivotal come the new season; his goal scoring prowess is not in question. His ability to cope with the pressure is ; he is certainly our talisman striker after the departure of Lee Trundle to Bristol City.
