Yeovil To Bid £100,000 For Craney

Ian Craney could be Yeovil Town bound after reports suggest that the Huish Park based outfit are set to bid £100,000 for the former Stans midfeilder .

Craney who was bought from Accrington Stanley for a fee of £150,000 in the January 2007 after a loan spell with the club; has not impressed the Swansea faithful.

With the recent acquisition of Ferrie Bodde from Ado Den Haag ,Matty Collins from Fulham. Encompassed with the likely returns of Darren Way and Owain Tudur Jones the former England Semi Professional Internationals future hangs in the balance.

Craney has been criticised for his lack of shooting prowess , poor distribution , tackling and positional play.

Craney was touted as one of most highly rated players in the lower leagues. He has failed to live up to his billing.

Yeovil Town manager Russell Slade has denied reports that The Glovers will be bidding on Craney.

Slade Told The Western Daily Press:

' "We've made no bid.

He was someone who was on our list but we've made no official bid. He's a very good player and why shouldn't I be interested in those sort of players?"'

With the return of Darren Way who has had a torrid time with injuries since joining Swansea City in January 2006 would be a better option than Craney.

Selling Craney would inevitably put the club at a £50,000 loss in investment in the player. This should be looked at objectively the loss is big in fiscal terms but it would raise much needed funds for other areas of the club such as the new training base.

Craney's chances of playing in the first team are remote and the money could be spent on bringing in a Centre Back and a Striker.

It is very much likely that Craney will be the next departure from the Liberty Stadium.

Yeovil must be desperate if they want Craney, he done nothing last year.

Craney was fecking fantastic down at Accrington, and when he left, along with the departure of Garry Roberts, our midfield crumbled really. League One maybe a little to far for him at this stage (you signed him after a few months in league two) but when you get relegated this season (;-) ) he will be good for you in League Two. Haha.
