After the game yesterday I was lucky to get a quick word with Swansea City Manager Roberto Martinez
Roberto the Signings you have made have been very economical and you emphasised the need to get players with the right attitude do you feel you have done that?
' Yeah absolutely, yes we need to get the right characters and that`s the most important thing we have a very good group we had to improve certain departments and bring in players who could bring in different aspects to our squad .
You have signed two Spanish players this transfer window in Mayol and Rangel how have they fitted in with the Squad.?
'We have been following them for a little while and Kevin Reeves has been in Spain watching them a few times these two players bring something different to the squad they are young lads and they can progress. They love the involvement with Swansea City and that`s a fantastic to have. And their quality on the pitch is something that is going to help the squad.'
How has the new trialist Ibrahima Thaim fitted in?
'He has had 3 weeks that he has done nothing and obviously he arrived and all the shock of the first training session and the game today we are going to asses him over the next 3 or 4 days and see how he develops. He has a good pedigree and has played in the Belgian league and is a player who has been highly recommended. We are going to have a look , he looks a good character .'
He Seems a powerful player
'With that frame and that body you got a good start the boy is equipping himself well around the training ground and it is now down to him to enjoy his football while he is with us.'
You have also signed two Dutch Players in Dorus De Vries and Ferrie Bodde how are they shaping up?
'You don`t get winners that easy and Dorus De Vries and a little connection with Ferrie Bodde in their time in den Haag in Holland . Obviously he has had an outstanding season in Scotland at Dunfermline. Ferrie Bodde is a player that I`m delighted with his past and wanted to sign for Swansea city and the experience he has got in the top league in the Dutch league and I think we have been fortunate that ado den Haag got relegated and we have been able to sign him. I think they are enjoying their football on the pitch as well.'
The Players showed the right attitude on the pitch tonight they seem to want to play for their shirt?
' It`s been a hard pre season and this is part of the pre season. They were training this morning and you could see that they were enjoying being out there on the football pitch. Saying that the attitude has been fantastic from day one and I have said many times we got the right characters they really want to be successful for Swansea city. That`s the most important ingredient. '
What are your aims this season hopefully in the championship?
'Well I always said that I want to see Swansea city in the premiership. How long is it going to take what I can guarantee you is that we will work on a daily basis to make sure we are improving slowly and with a solid base and we will go out and try to win every single game. '
Thank you Roberto.
