Duffy Completes Swansea Move

Darryl Duffy has completed his much awaited £200,000 move to Swansea City.

There was doubt over Duffy's signing with his involvement in The Tigers' pre-season training camp in AC Milan's former training facility in Bormio Italy. This was further compounded by the two clubs agreeing a £200,000 fee, rising to £250,000 if we gain promotion.

The Scottish front man took a medical yesterday before putting pen to paper - finally completing his long-awaited permanent switch to the Liberty Stadium. Duffy has also expressed his delight and relief that a permanent move has finally been completed.

Swansea City Striker Darryl Duffy on the Official Site: :

'"I'm absolutely delighted it's finally completed.

It's certainly dragged on - nine weeks in fact.

There were stages when I thought the move was dead and buried; then I'd be given renewed hope that it was back on again.

But when Hull told me I was going with them to Italy for pre-season, I was convinced that was it for Swansea. Then all of a sudden I was flying back to Swansea to sign the deal.

All the travelling has been hard, but well worth it. I don't think I made any secret of the fact that I wanted to make my move to Swansea permanent.

I felt my time was up at Hull because I just wasn't playing first team football on a regular basis. But coming to Swansea last season gave me a massive lift. I had forgotten what it was like to play regular football and the goals were an added bonus - fantastic.''
Duffy's addition to the squad adds even more competition to the forward line as he joins Trundle, Scotland and Mayol as all 4 compete for a starting place next season.

Duffy also spoke about the whirlwind 48 hrs that will see him take two flights and three different European countries.

Swansea City Striker Darryl Duffy told the South Wales Evening Post:

'''I started off in Bormio, which is four hours' drive from Milan, at 9pm on Sunday night,''

''After four hours in a taxi, I checked into an airport hotel at 1am but had to be up at 4am to check out and get the plane to Bristol.

'After a two-and-a-half-hour flight, I got picked up to come and do my medical in Mumbles and now I'm off to Sweden.''

'Hopefully I can stay off the plane for a while after this,''

'Seriously, it's all worth it. It'll be nice to meet up with the boys again and I can't wait to get going as a full-time Swansea player.''

This is fantastic news for the club our forward line is looking rather impressive now.

Who is your preferred strike partnership? Should we play a typical 4-4-2 formation or a more attacking 4-3-3?

Excellent news! finally the deal is done! Trundle, Scotland, Duffy and Mayol, that's some forward line! They'll all have to be on the top of their game to keep their places, it'll be interesting to see who gets picked for the first game.

I agree, it's going to be very interesting, on one hand you have the tried and tested partnership of duffy and trundle, on the other you have the amazing goal scoring record of scotland and the very ambitious spanish player wanting to make his mark in our leagues...

thank goodness for that

Never doubted Roberto for a second! As soon as he said they had agreed a deal with Hull i knew it was only a matter oftime before Martinez had his man! All in all a very successful close season, now the hard work and headaches start for Maetinez!
