Anderson Joins On Season-Long Loan

Anderson Joins On Season-Long Loan

As expected last night, Swansea City have signed Liverpool winger Paul Anderson on a season-long loan.

The 19 year old winger is highly rated at Liverpool but is yet to make a competitive first team appearance.

He has made appearances in the FA Youth Cup and was on the bench for a Champions League game.

Swansea City Manager Roberto Martinez told The South Wales Evening Post:

''We have said all along that we needed a bit of pace out wide and hopefully Paul Anderson is going to provide us with that,'

'Hopefully everything will be done over the next 24 hours with him and he will come to Sweden with us.

'Paul is exactly the type of player we are looking for - he is young, has fantastic ability and I believe he is keen to come and join us.

'He is able to play on either wing, although he is more right-sided because he is right-footed.

'He will give us an extra dimension because he has the ability to go on the outside. He is an excellent crosser, sees the game well and has great quality on the ball.''

Anderson is a right winger and will offer competition to Leon Britton. Despite this we really needed a left winger to balance out the team.

I do hope he can switch flanks for the coming season with him and Britton on the wings there will be much needed pace and width to our play.

All in all a very good signing.

Martinez is also confident that Darryl Duffy will follow him to Swansea and travel with the squad to Sweden.

He added:

"It's a complicated one, but I think we'll find out one way or another with Darryl before we go to Sweden.

"Negotiations are ongoing between ourselves, Hull and Darryl and if everything can be agreed, he is only a flight away.

"Maybe doing all the paperwork in time for him to play in Sweden next weekend will be difficult, but he would be able to come out and train with us and that's the most important thing."

'He is an excellent crosser' - hope this proves to be true, quality delivery is one of the things we lacked at times last season, hopefully this lad can work well down the left for us...

looking forward to seeing him play, hopefully he will. After watching a few clips of him for the youth side he seems to have lots of pace and skill, he should cause all sorts of problems for the full backs like britton does.

If it is true that he can play on either wing then it will be a good signing for us as allthough Butler works hard and has a hell of a good shot he is not quick enough to get past the full back and deliver a good cross. He seems more comfortable stepping inside and shooting! Hopefully Britton and Anderson can strike up a good understanding on each wing and we will get the pace fown both flanks to really cause problems!

Looks to be a great signing for you if you can deploy him on either flank!

i read anderson can play as a striker as well, martinez says he can play on the left but is better on the right of course. we don't have anyone at the club who can provide us with some width on the left, Robinson could be going - he's not a winger and i don't think he'll be a first teamer in the centre. I also don't rate Butler at all, he had a decent spell around the fa cup but thats it. 'hell of a good shot!?' the complete opposite i think, nearly on a par with craney on shooting ability. Butler can launch some great efforts from the edge of the box when he steps inside! Craney has been a bit of a let down since joining but i hopeall thats behind him and Anderson provides us with the width we so desperately need down the left!
