Abbott Joins Darlington for £100,000

Abbott Joins Darlington for £100,000

Former Swansea City Striker Pawel Abbott has joined Darlington for a fee of £100,000.

The Polish striker will join The Quakers if he passes a medical at the club.

Abbott has struggled to hold down a first team place at the Liberty Stadium. He has only made 19 appearances last term due to the form of Loan Signing Darryl Duffy and the partnership of Trundle and Akinfenwa.

Darlington Manager Dave Penney On the offical site:

'''Pawel is a proven goalscorer at this level and higher. He's got a great habit of scoring goals and is a player who will excite the fans.'

Abbott has only scored 1 goal in his Swansea City career and it is evident with the arrival of Jason Scotland and Mayol he was going to drop in the pecking order. This move certainly brings much needed funds to the club to help finance the Duffy deal.

The Hull City striker is yet to agree terms with Swansea but this is a significant move it the ever changing jigsaw puzzle.

100k isn't a bad deal for us at all. Just a shame things didn't work out down here for him as he was a proven goalscorer at huddersfield. Hopefully duffy will agree terms now if he sees a striker has moved on.

Thats a great deal for us, seemed like a nice guy but is now surplus to requirements. Good luck!

I agree, with Bayo and now Abbott gone RM is really gearing up for promotion, next season will be a good one i think

this hopefully means the duffy deal is still on the cards, shame for Abbott, was thinking perhaps he'd come good, but I guess he'd be a bit starved of chances...

Maybe thats the type of assurance that Duffy needed. Thats one less striker for him to compete against! Good luck to Pav, he seemed like a good man it just wasn't meant to be for him down here in Wales.
