Swansea Sign Dutch Keeper De Vries

As reported earlier this week, Swansea City have signed Dutch Keeper Dorus De Vries on a Free transfer from Dunfermline Athletic.

Despite interest from Championship and Scottish Premiership clubs Martinez has secured the services of the highly rated shot stopper.

News reports were coming out of the Netherlands on Wednesday night claiming De Vries had signed a two year deal with the club.

Swansea City Manager Roberto Martineztold the Evening Post:

''We are delighted to get someone of Dorus's calibre'

All the reports we've had about his form in Scotland last year have been fantastic. We've seen him quite a number of times ourselves and we've also had very good reports from people we trust.'

At 26 he is a perfect age and he is a very determined character who knows exactly what he wants.'

When you meet him he impresses you straightaway. He wants to do well for Swansea City because ultimately he wants to play in the Premiership.''

De vries has made over 50 appearances for Dutch Club Ado Den Haag and 34 appearances for Dunfermline Athletic.

This is the position all Swansea City supporters wanted filling.

De Vries's arrival offers real competition between the sticks for Willy. That is something he has not had in recent season to the detriment of his performance.

Great work on bringing him to us well done again RM!

Sounds like another superb signing by Roberto. Haven't seen him plays but I've read a lot of praising views on him and the Dunfermline fans say they are really going to miss him. I can see Gueret going now if he's going to be playing second fiddle to De Vries.

What a fantastic year for signings we have got all the players we wanted well done to swansea city especially Roberto its gonna be our year for good things its so exciting I cant wait for the season to start.

This is definatly the one signing i've been looking for, a new goalkeeper is definatly what we needed, it's sad in a way that this may mean the end of gueret's time at Swansea but if we want to comepte for automatic promotion RM has to make some shrewd decisions when selecting the team...

We finally have a good keeper to challenge willy! This is the signing of the close season imo as we really need somebody to either challenge willy or replace him! Well done Roberto!

he won't be challenging willy i doubt. i've heard gueret is going as he doesn't seem the type to challenge for a no.1 place. we need a permenant replacement tho not a loanee coming in like some people are saying.
