Mayol Speaks Ahead Of The New Season

Swansea City's new Spanish striker Guillem Bauza Mayol has expressed his desire to continue his learning experience here in Swansea

Mayol signed from Segunda B side Espayol B last week on a free transfer.

Mayol who has cited Maths as amongst his academical interests is keen to show he is not here to make up the numbers.

Swansea City Striker Mayol told:The South Wales Evening Post

''I'm a striker but not a centre-forward..I'm a second striker who likes to work hard for my partner.

I wouldn't say I had particular strengths - I think I have some ability in every area. The important thing is to score goals, and I like to do that.

The style may be a little different, but at the end the ball has to go in the goal.'

Mayol so far has seemed to be very focused and also very mature beyond his 22 years. 'Bussy' as he is known has also expressed a desire to take up a course in Swansea to fuel his academical prowess.

Mayol seems to offer a calming influence on the team something that is very much needed when you are chasing a game. Yes it is far to soon to label a player who has not kicked a ball in anger but on paper he is certainly talking the game Martinez is trying to bring to the team.

There have been concerns over players temperaments and off pitch antics but I think its safe to say Mayol's feet are firmly on the ground.

He seems to have his head screwed on properly! Lets see how good he is come August and see if he is as good on the pitch as he is mature!

sounds like a good player, hopefully he will be. I can't see where Abbott fits in down here now though.
