Cardiff City Enter De Vries Hunt

Swansea City's arch rivals Cardiff City have entered the race to sign Dutch Keeper Dorus De Vries

The Dutchman was in Swansea last week on a fact finding mission and to hold talks with Roberto Martinez.

De Vries is out of contract with Scottish side Dunfermline Athletic and has been targeted by Swansea as a possible first choice Goalkeeper.

It has been thought that arch rivals Cardiff City were keen on bringing the Dutchman to Ninan Park. Two other Scottish clubs are also after his services.

Swansea City Manager Roberto Martinez told The South Wales Evening Post:

' ''I would be surprised if he is not being followed by Championship teams. He is coming off the back of a fantastic season in Scotland, where he is rated very, very highly.

I know he has a couple of clubs in Scotland who would like to sign him, but I believe he doesn't want to stay in Scotland. Now it's about what Dorus wants to do with his future. He has a few options, so we will have to see where we are.

'He is one name, but there are another six we are thinking about for that position.'

If Championship sides have targeted De Vries then its very likely he will sign for them over Swansea.I just hope Dorus has seen the ambition of this club and would like the challenge of getting this club into the championship.

Its true! Just last season they signed Rojer Hohnson after we had expressed an interest in him! I bet De Vries wont even be their first choice and hell only be a bench warmer! Even if this one does go wrong then at least Martinez has anopther 6 that he can fall back on!
