Swansea and Hull Agree Fee For Duffy

Hull City Striker Darryl Duffy's future looks to be in South Wales. A fee of around £200,000 has been agreed for the 23 year old Scottish striker.

Duffy expressed a desire to move to Swansea after a successful loan period at the end of last season which saw him score 5 goals in 5 appearances.

Hull were initially asking for a fee of £500,000 for the Striker but there has been a change of board at the club with Paul Duffen being installed as the new chairman at the club.

Swansea have faced stiff competition for Duffy's signature from Hartlepool United and Hibs.

Hull City Manager Phil Brown told BBC Humberside:

''The chairman (Paul Duffen) has agreed terms with Swansea's chairman (Huw Jenkins), now it's up to Darryl Duffy to decide..He has to decide whether he wants to be a Swansea player or a Hull City player, but we have agreed terms.'

This is fantastic news ahead of Jason Scotland's work permit hearing on Wednesday. In the last month or so Duffy's future has been less than certain with Hull City playing a huge game of risk with Duffy's carrer.

The new board at Hull City unlike the board under former Chairman Adam Pearson have finally sought sense. Duffy will now be allowed the chance to further his career with Swansea.

The way in which Hull City have dealt with the dealings surrounding Duffy has been nothing short of unprofessional. Indeed all clubs want the most for their players but to play a game of risk with a players career is unacceptable.

It is now up to Duffy to accept terms with Swansea which is no means a formality. I am more confident now that this week he will be unveiled as a Swansea Player.

excellent news, hopefully he should sign for us this week!

If he signs for us as he has exressed a wish of doing then Roberto has a pretty formidable choice of strikers with Trunds, Scotland (work permit permitting), Mayol and Duffy all batlling for places aswell as Chris Jones breaking through! This is excelant news and will surely lead the way to an exciting season ahead of us!

yes excellent competition up front, i don't where this leaves Abbott though. He hardly impressed Martinez last season.

I completely forgot about Abbot myself while i was thinking up that list! Shows how far down the pecking order he is!

Were not home and dry yet! We still have to agree terms with Duffy! However he did state that he wanted to be a Swans player so it is looking likely that we will sign him!
jack hammers
I hope he agrees terms with the club, if he does then RM should look to offload Abbott, either on loan or through a transfer to generate funds.

Definately! Its pointless Abbott staying here as he would only waste away in the reserves! We should try and recoup some of the money that we paid for Duffy!
jack hammers
Yes Abbot will have to go if scotland and duffy's deals get tied up.
