'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Mayol 's Reaction On Joining Swansea

Swansea City's new Spanish striker Guillem Bauza Mayol has spoken to a major Welsh newspaper about his move to the Liberty Stadium.

Mayol secured a 1 Year deal to move to Wales this week on a free transfer from Spanish Segunda B side Espayol B.

'Bussy' as he is known to team mates has also played for the Spanish International side at Under-16,17 and Under-20 level with Liverpool bound striker Fernando Torres.

It has been reported that Swansea will have to pay some sort of fee to compensate for the further development due to Mayol's age.

Guillem Bauza Mayol told the Western Mail:

'"I`m not joining Swansea for economic reasons but for football reasons..the manager wants promotion to the Championship and I, too, am driven by success.

It is a brave move by me as I`m moving to a new country and a new culture but Swansea seems a lovely city by the sea and it`ll be an incredible learning experience.

Foreign players are developed differently so they tend to be more skilful and see the game differently.

I just want good footballers at Swansea, regardless of where they`re from. I don`t make the decisions, football ability and attitude makes all of my decisions for me.

This is a very professional attitude by the Spaniard one that defies his 22 years. Martinez in his first transfer market as a manager earmarked professionalism and the right attitude as a player as key attributes in his search.

Mayol certainly has shown that level of professionalism and attitude. He is a trained teacher and something that may be reflected on the pitch. That vital learning experience if translated onto the pitch not only will the club have a Striker with the right attitude to succeed but a intelligent footballer too boot.

Mayol strikes me as a player in the Martinez mold if this proves to come true then we have a exellent player on our hands.

He certainly seems to have the right attitude and if he has the skills to boot then Martinez has secured the services of a very good stricker. He is exactly what we needed after losing Bayo!

Yes I think attitude is an attribute we have neglected to look for in recent years, well done RM!
