Martinez Looking To Secure Targets

Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez will be looking this week to secure his transfer targets in time when the players report for pre season training on Friday.

There have been conflicting reports over Hull City Striker Darryl Duffy. The Tiger's new Chairman Paul Duffen stated on BBC Radio Humberside a deal could be secured in the next week.

Despite this statement by Hull there has been fresh doubt over any move for Duffy.

Swansea City Chairman Huw Jenkins had openly refused that Duffy was close to signing last week as the clubs could not come to agreement over the fee for the former Scottish u-21 international. Duffy is still top priority for the club.

Swansea City Manager Roberto Martinez told The Western Mail:

'"We are still in negotiations with Darryl`s advisers and Hull City. Darryl fits the mould of a Swansea City player very well; he`s hard-working, ambitious and determined.'

Martinez is also trying to secure the services of a Goalkeeper to challenge Willy Guéret for his starting place. The Swans have been strongly linked to out of contract Dunfermline Athletic Keeper Dorus De Vries in recent months.

The Dutchman has played with Ferrie Bodde, Swansea's new midfielder from Ado Den Haag.

There is no word yet on De Vries but with the Pars securing a UEFA cup place for next season Martinez may lose out on the Dutchman.

Roberto is also looking to secure the services of a left winger.

Manchester United reserve team winger Jamie Mullen was offered a 3 year deal with Swansea but has chosen to pursue a deal with Leeds United.

It will certainly be an interesting week ahead at the club.

Apparently, we can expect 3 new faces by Friday, lets hope so.

At least 3 will be a priority and that is the spine of the team then completed. Goal Keeper; Centre Back & Striker. We have our midfielder in Bodde.
