Duffy Set For Swansea Move

New Hull City chairman Paul Duffen says that there is a very good chance that Darryl Duffy will sign for Swansea this week.

The new takeover of the Championship club looks to have paved the way for the striker to finally return to the Swans after enjoying a successful loan spell with us last season.

Previous chairman Adam Pearson requested a ridiculous £500,000 asking price - double the amount they paid Falkirk for him last year.

That looked to have ended the possibility of him joining us but it looks as if the two clubs could agree a fee with the player signing by the end of the week.

Chairman Paul Duffen told BBC Sport:

"I would say there is a very good chance we will do a deal with Swansea for Darryl Duffy,"

"Darryl was on loan at Swansea so it's an obvious home for him to go to.

"I have spoke to Huw Jenkins, we are in a dialogue and like all these things it's a question of negotiation that meets our mutual expectations financially."

Hull City have had a £250,000 bid rejected for Colchester striker Jamie Cureton, and with Sam Parkin set to join Stoke for a sizable fee, Phil Brown may well be looking to offload Duffy as well to gain more funds for other targets.

Huw Jenkins told the Evening Post earlier this week:

'The new Hull chairman has phoned me and we've had a chat about it,'

'He got in touch because he knows we had been discussing Darryl's situation.

'Darryl had a good spell with us at the end of last season and we know he would fit in quickly here, which is important. But the ball remains in Hull's court.

'We found it hard to understand how a club could sign a player (for £250,000) and then argue that his valuation should go up when he hasn't really played for them.

'I think now Darryl's future will depend on their manager. He (Phil Brown) will have to decide what players they want to bring in and who they need to move out.'

'We will have to see what happens this week and then next week I think everything should become clearer,'

He fitted well into our style of play last season. Hope he joins.

I hope this is true! He would be a great addition to our squad.

The fact that he fitted in so well after having so little time to train with the boys was a testament to himself and also the way that Martinez recruited him. Keep the goals coming and we should have no problem gaining promotion this season!

looks as if he could sign within 48 hours.

thank goodness i hope he does .

I have mentioned it earlier here - seems like the new Hull owner is much more reasonable. Maybe it was just a poor effort to find out how far the bidders would go with their offers. I firmly believe that DD will sign for us either today or tommorow.

Still hopeful that he will join.
