Iriekpen Signs for Scunthorpe

Iriekpen Signs for Scunthorpe

Scunthorpe United have signed former Swansea City defender Izzy Iriekpen.

Izzy has signed a two year deal with an option for a 3rd year.

Izzy signed for Swansea City from Premiership side West Ham United in 2003 and made over 100 appearances for the club, scoring 8 goals.

The central defender rejected a new contract offer yesterday on Martinez's deadline day.

It was what we were all expecting as Izzy has criticised the club on many occasions about the deal he was offered.

Iriekpen has a lot of pace and is a good defender but I think this season he has been severely lacking in a number of areas. His set piece and positioning has been poor and he has been guilty of making some costly mistakes.

He'll need to make some major improvements next season if he is to be a hit at Glanford Park.
