'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Swans Get Training Ground Boost

The club will be investing over 300,000 during the summer on the new facilities after striking a deal with the Ospreys to use the new upgraded training pitches at Llandarcy Park.

The club are hoping that Roberto and his squad will be able to move to their new training facility at the beginning of October.

Huw Jenkins on the official Swansea city site said:

'Its a well known fact that our training facilities have not come up to standard in recent years,'

'In fact it's a problem that has stretched back for decades rather than years. But

his new training facility shuld solve that problem untill we go one step further and build our own Acadamy complex.

Its a major investment from the club, but one I firmly believe will reap its rewards on the pitch, both short and long term.'

Roberto Martinez also added on the OS

'I've got to commend the club for making such a massive investment.

Any footballer, coach or manager will tell you that training facilities are key to gaining successon the field.

That not only comes in the form of results, but also preventing injury and helping to attract the top quality players we are looking to bring to Swansea City.'

This problem has certainly affected us in the past, all those injuries we've had in various different seasons has affected us. no club should struggle to forge a 16-man team together and at one point we had 11 or 12 players out I think. Poor training facilities hinders our progress and development and we desperately need a new training centre. Youth Development is another area that needs improving.

It is good to have a good surface to train on, although it is short term. Previously to have trained on a bumpy pitch and then play on the Liberty flat surface was not fair to the players. The club are still looking to build their own Academy complex. So long term objectives and planning is good.
