Move For Man Utd Winger Unlikely

Roberto Martinez says that it's unlikely that Manchester United winger Jamie Mullan will be joining Swansea City.

The 19 year-old is in search of a new club after being released from United this Summer.

Mullan spent a few weeks at the club on trial but he seems set on a move to Leeds United, relegated this year to League One.

Martinez spoke to the south wales evening post on the loosing out on Mullan:

'Jamie Mullan is a young player with good potential,'

'He had a trial with us but he wanted to keep his options open. I think he is waiting on other things and it's unlikely he'll be coming to Swansea.

'We had a look at him and as far as I'm concerned it's down to how much the player wants to join us. I don't think he really wants to join us, and we only want players who do.'

With Tom Williams' departure, Martinez is lacking in left-sided midfielders as Bodde, our most recent signing, is a central midfielder.

Mullan would certainly have fitted the bill as he is versatile and is comfortable playing on either flank.

Seems a shame, but will he be cursing if we go up and leeds dont, theres no such thing for a team too big for the lower leagues (forest)

I agree. Forest have been stuck in this leaguer for many years now and its not often that a team comes down a division and then straight back up. Look at how Crewe and Brighton finished mid table this year after coming down from the championship. It looks like we have a good chance of leaving this division this year and his signing would have helped but like Martinez says, we only want people who want to play for Swansea City!
