Martinez Dips into Spanish Market?

Martinez Dips into Spanish Market?

Swansea City Manager Roberto Martinez has started his search in earnest to strengthen the side for the 2007/08 season.

Martinez has looked to Home in Spain to find the recruits to spur Swansea City towards another promotion challenge. Martinez in past months has indicated his desire to utilize the European Market to aid the club. This was seen by the new link with Swedish Norrettan outfit Östersunds FK and the player search in Holland.

Swansea City Manager Roberto Martinez was quoted as saying in the evening post:

''The Spanish market is a fantastic one if you target the right players and that's something I am looking to do.I'm talking about getting professionals in, players who have the right attitude and the hunger to succeed.'

Roberto has certainly cast his net wide for new players and it is evident that he will not be rushed in securing the right players for the Club. His efforts are commendable and are a marked improvement of the old transfer policy at the club. Watching 4 matches in one day is incredible , Martinez is certainly making sure all his bases are covered.

Roberto must be careful not upset the balance with these new foreign players and must integrate them into the side.

I think martinez will probably still try to sign Duffy it just means that he isnt going to rush into any signings. Im glad he is looking at the transfer market in this way because we have made some stupid signings recently - Rory Fallon + Paval Abbott for instance.

nothing wrong with rory fallon it was the side that let him down. he loves attacking cross's and that we did not do well. he will prove a hit at plymouth he is better off. why would a championshp side spend 350,000 on him if he was *****. HE IS A TARGET MAN NOT A OUT AND OUT 20 goal scorer. if thats what keeny wanted then he should have got someone with pace a who is a good finisher. blame kenny not rory fallon.

It looks like we may have a lot of signings this year if all this scouting is anything to go by.

First of all i must say i agree with ksp1977's comments on Rory Fallon. I rate Fallon as a player and i think he got a bum deal at Swansea. I think Roberto will get some good newcomers in this summer, most of which we wont of ever heard of though, which excites me to be honest, i cant wait to see new blood in the team and i'm interested to see what a few spaniards can do to the side. Unknowns have prove sucsesfull in the past, Savarese and Ricketts spring to mind and Alex Calvo-Garcia become a cult hero at Sunthorpe!

ok. sorry i didnt mean to say that Fallon wasnt a good player just like im not saying that Abbott is a bad player im just saying that their playing style doesn't suit the way we play football. I hope Fallon does well at Plymouth just like i hope Abbott performs for us but kenny brought him in quickly and he scored 1 goal, martinez brought in Duffy and he got us 5 goals in 5 games. As long as we look at players before we sign them im happy.
