Swansea Yet To Agree Duffy Fee

Swansea City compete with Hibernian and Hartlepool United for Darryl Duffy, and although the striker prefers a move to the Liberty Stadium, we are still yet to agree a fee with the Tigers.

Various reports are suggesting bids of around £100,000-150,000 have each been made by the three clubs but Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins says they won't be rushed into making a bid.

He said:

'It doesn't concern me that Hartlepool have supposedly made an offer for Darryl,'

'We are monitoring the situation.

'There will be a number of players we are going to be linked with over the summer - some will be pure speculation and some will be fact.'


It'll be dissapointing to say the least if we fail to secure the signing of the striker who scored 5 goals in 5 games for us during his loan spell.

He's proved he can score consistently at League One level and he's exactly the type of striker we need to gain promotion next season.

While it seems unlikely that Duffy would sign for Hartlepool or Hiberbian, I think we are running the risk of losing our chance of signing him.

However, the club are sensible about not paying over the odds for a player who we could get for free next summer when his contract expires.

St Johnstone striker Jason Scotland also seems to be a target, but Martinez has so far ruled out claims they have made an official approach to sign him.

if he was to go anywhere (which I still really hope he does not !!) I hope he goes to you lot cos you play proper football which is why he flourished !

yea i hope so to! i can't see him going for a bid close to what you paid falkirk for him though, he's out of contract next year and by the looks of things we're not going to pay much over £100k.

We have sampled the goods. He has been tried and tested and has proved to be a player that will enhance our squad. Don't go down the path that "next season we can have him for nothing". If Hull want to offload him now, then he will move on this summer, if not us, then to some other club.
