Monk Hoping For New Deal

Monk Hoping For New Deal

After missing most of the season with a knee injury, defender Garry Monk is hoping he'll be offered a new contract in June.

The club captain said: 'The contract situation's been on my mind all season,'

'I had to try to forget about it and concentrate on getting fit and I'm delighted I've managed that.

'Now I've just got to wait and hope that I get offered a new deal.

'You never know in football, and I have been burned in this situation before.

'But this is a great club and I just hope I'll still be a part of it next season.

'The chairman talks about only being interested in players who want to play for Swansea City.

'I can assure you I'm one of those.'

Personally, I think we should let him go. It may be harsh on a player who hasn't played for 9 months because of a knee injury but he hasn't showed any signs of stepping up to League One.

He did a good job in his first season with us in League Two, but I do feel he's out of his depth playing in League One.

Should we let him go? Who else who's out of contract should be released in June? Tell us your thoughts in our forum here,

You wouldn't know class if it kicked you in the ****. Top player and a strong leader - who else would be a decent skipper?
