'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Martinez's Pre-Match Comments

Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez says we must not underestimate the opposition this weekend as Brighton are this weekend's visitors to the Liberty Stadium.

He said: 'It will be a big mistake to underestimate them.

'They are a talented young side who I am sure will be up for the game. But the fact that they are fairly safe should make for an open game as I don't expect them to come here and defend.

'But for us to earn the right to play Carlisle and Blackpool in what everyone expects to be 'big game' scenarios, we've got to perform against Brighton on Saturday.

'There are four teams - Oldham, Yeovil, Carlisle and ourselves - battling for two play-off spots. And with nine points to play for, whoever is in form will get into the play-offs.

'We can't afford to worry about the other teams; we've got to stay focused on our own performance and have enough belief to do it ourselves.

'We've been creating plenty of chances, but we've got to make sure we keep putting them away as goal difference could be crucial come the end of the season.''

Martinez looks to have received a boost ahead of the game as midfielder Andy Robinson should be fit for selection while Butler should also pass a fitness test.

Martinez also said that 7 points could well get them into the play-offs this season but I'd have to disagree.

With 3 points to make up over Oldham in 6th and Carlisle going ahead of us in 8th, I think it's absolutely a must that we get 9 points from these last 3 games, anything less and we've got no chance.
