Swansea Watch Ryman League Star
Swansea City are keeping a close eye on Ryman League hot prospect Chris Whelpdale.
The 20 year-old plays for Billericay in the Ryman League, two levels below the Conference and has earned rave reviews for his performances.
He has lots of pace and his comfortable playing on both wings.
So far this term he has scored 11 goals and has earned the Supporters' Player of the Year award.
Roberto Martinez has denied claims that the Swans have made an official approach for the youngster, but admits he is a player they are looking at: 'We are looking at many players at the moment, but it's true that he's one of the ones we are looking at,'
'There has not been a direct approach to sign him, but we have contacted people to get information about him.
'We have been following him for a while and we're tracking his development.
'He's definitely one we're keeping an eye on because we feel he is player who could be suited to playing for Swansea City, but there has been no final decision made.
'At the moment we have a very long list of players we could look to bring in.'
Billericay manager Chris Jones also added: 'Chris is a special young talent who undoubtedly has the ability to play the game at a higher level,'
'His goal tally from a wide midfield position is in double figures, which is exceptional, but there's so much more to his game than just scoring.'
'We would never stand in the way of any of our players if they had the chance to carve out a Football League career,'
