Swansea In Striker Search

Swansea City are looking to bring in a new striker in time for Satuday's game after Akinfenwa will miss the rest of the season with a broken leg.

The striker will spend up to 6 months on the sidelines while there are also injuries to both Izzy Iriekpen and Darren Pratley. Izzy is sidelined for 3 weeks with a hamstring strain and Pratley is out for a month after dislocating a shoulder. Duffy is also a doubt for the game at Yeovil.

Chairman Huw Jenkins said: ''Losing Bayo is a huge disappointment considering the impact he has made for us as a team,''

''We're trying to bring someone in on loan before the weekend because we certainly need to.

''Kevin Reeves is working hard and we have made one or two approaches over certain players.''

With Akinfenwa out for 6 months, this could well affect his future at the club as the new manager won't be able to assess the player until next season is under way. Bayo's contract also expires in June.

there has to be alot of good young strikers out there for us

Any young player that a Championship or Premiership side were prepared to let go out on loan moved in January. Just as Jermaine Beckford went on loan to Scunthorpe from Leeds United. He scored the second goal against us last tuesday. So to find someone now is going to be very difficult.

losing bayo is a huge disaster for us.. we'll really miss him, because in my opinion, swans hasnt got adequate cover for him.. we must loan young and talented striker as soon as possible or forget the promotion to championship...
