'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Swansea v Scunthorpe Match Reaction

Caretaker boss Kevin Nugent said his side are lacking confidence after they lost 2-0 at home to Scunthorpe last night.

Billy Sharp gave the visitors the lead after just 3 minutes before Beckford finished the game off with 19 minutes to play.

The Swans now trail Tranmere, who occupy the last play-off place by 5 points.

Nugent said: 'It's not the result we were looking for but we had a lot of possession and then the two goals really killed us.

'We huffed and puffed but the little bit of confidence we had was totally drained by the goals.

'All credit to Scunthorpe they defended well and they didn't give us a sniff and we will have to learn from that.'

His opposite number Nigel Adkins was delighted with his side's victory which takes their unbeaten away run to 12 games - a new record for the club.

He said: 'I am ecstatic with the result because we came trying to make history with 12 games away from home unbeaten and we put in a magnificent performance.

'Swansea threw everything at us and Bayo Akinfenwa caused us a lot of problems before his injury and we couldn't contain them.

'But we've taken the lead and that's given us something to hang onto.

'We couldn't push on for another because Swansea wouldn't let us but then (Neil) MacKenzie's had a super strike and we've got a second.

'Our two strikers have scored and a magnificent defensive performance has given us a clean sheet so it was a true team effort.'

Next up for the Swans is a tough trip to Yeovil next Saturday.
