Monk: 'Players Are Devasted'

Garry Monk says the players are devastated after being told in training that Jackett had left the club.

Monk, who was made club captain at the start of the season by Jackett, says the players must take some of the blame for Kenny's departure.

He said: 'We have massively let the gaffer down. To say that is a bit of shock Kenny has gone is putting it mildly.'

'There were a few rumours flying around before we got to training,'

'We were all taken down to the training ground and Nuge (Kevin Nugent) read out a statement that the gaffer had left.

'The lads were all devastated and gutted.

'It is sad to think that he felt he no longer had everybody's support.

'Some of the criticism in the past few weeks has been ridiculous.

'We have only lost the last two, it is not as if we are in a crisis. Maybe some people will be happy now.'

'He has been brilliant with me - I'm devastated he has gone.

'The players now have to go out tomorrow (at Doncaster) and give a performance he would have been proud of. We have to focus on getting promotion and stick together.

'But we know that we have let him down massively.'

Who do you blame for Jackett's departure? The fans for their lack of support, the club, the media or a combination of these? Let us know by psoting your comments below, you can also share your views with other fans in our A href='forum' target='blank'>forum here

The Swans must win against doncaster; for KJ for promotion (or at least play offs) and for us...

i do agree the players must take most of the fault cos kj put faith into these players and they let him down. so lets get promotion and do it for kj and for the fans and the club. and most of all prove that your worthy to wear a swans shirt???????

Bit late to do it for KJ now...That would only prove the doubters right. They got to do it for themselves and for the fans but that would only prove the doubters right. Kenny Jackett in a no win situation again. Cheers KJ and all the best.

A win at Doncaster is a must. Not for the sake of KJ, the fans or the club, but that they can be called "Professional Footballers".

there was a misunderstanding about my sentences.. i didnt advocate or defend kenny jackett, i think he hasnt got enough ability and managerial knowledge for promotion to championship; i tried to say swansea must win at doncaster and show their real ability and power to kenny jackett.. thanks him for league 1 but, we need more talented manager to be successful.. doncaster community stadium is a very tough away but if swans play ambitious, determined and believed themselves, they defeat every team in this division... i totally believe that they have capability for achieving get the promotion...
