Jenkins: Hartson Signing Unlikely

Despite West Brom allowing Swansea to take John Hartson on loan, chairman Huw Jenkins says the move wouldn't be right for them at the moment.

He said: 'We don't feel signing John is something that would be quite right for us.

'We've made enquiries about a number of players and John is one of them.

'West Brom gave us the go-ahead last week and we've talked about it but it hasn't gone any further than that.

'Nobody has said no to us, but there are a few clubs talking to John and his agent.

'There was speculation about him and we felt it was only right that we investigated the opportunity, but having done that we don't think it can go any further as things stand.'

The former Celtic forward has always expressed his desire to play for the team he supports before he retires.

Championship clubs Leeds and Norwich have also expressed their interest in loaning him.

John Hartson had better stop saying that he would like to play for his home club. The club have contacted West Brom. He wants too much money, more than we can afford. When he does decide to come home, if ever, he will be past his sell by date.

Don't want him here, all that will happen is long balls up to him, and i don't want to see that type of game at the liberty

The only way we will see John Hartson in a Swansea shirt will be if:- a) he buys one from the club shop, or b) he plays in Kristian O'Leary's testimonial match.

What about as player/manager surely the ginger/bald one has much to offer.
